720,798. Locks. MEFINA SOC. ANON. March 10, 1953 [May 20, 1952], No. 6545/53. Class 44. In a lock having a bolt operated from a cylinder lock mechanism through a driving member mounted on the cylinder and having a pin or projection engaging in an opening in the bolt, interengaging parts or dogs are provided on the driving member and on the inner end of the cylinder so disposed that the former may be located on the latter in four alternative positions. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the bolt 2 slides in a casing 1 and is actuated by a follower 3 rotatably mounted in the casing and having a projection 14 passing through an opening 15 in the bolt. The driving member 6 is carried on the cylinder 7, the inner end of which has two female parts 9 in which are adapted to engage projections 10 on member 6. The latter has two horns 13, one or the other of which engages the projection 14 of the follower 3. Thus, whatever the position of the lock casing on the door, &c., the cylinder may be arranged so that the key slot is vertical. The bolt, and the shape of the opening 15, are symmetrical about the central transverse axis of the opening, so that the bolt is reversible.
