Abstract

798,608. Reciprocating pumps. AMON, R. Nov. 22, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 32645/53. Class 102(1). A dispensing apparatus for pasty materials &c. comprises a container 1 fitted with a nosepiece 4 having an orifice 7 which is closed by a tapered pin 18 forming an extension of a piston 15 which is loaded by a spring 17 and has a small clearance between its periphery and the nosepiece. When the pin 18 is raised by contact with a surface, material is transferred to the space below the piston and ejected by the spring pressure when the apparatus is removed from the surface. A ridge 8 surrounds the orifice. The spring 17 may have an axial extension passing into the container 1 to collect scum in the material. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the piston 15 is loaded by a bow spring 27 which assists in agitating the material in the container 1. The material may be contained in a replaceable container screwed into the socket 11 and enclosed within the container 1.
