716,752. Dispensing measured quantities of liquids. NEWTON CHAMBERS & CO., Ltd., and BOVILL, P. J. C. June 18, 1953 [July 28, 1952], No. 18996/52. Class 106(5) Apparatus for dispensing liquids creams and pastes such as soap pastes comprises a laterally squeezable elastic bag 1 confined within a housing 5 and furnished with a downwardly directed self-sealing discharge orifice 3, a non-return valve 6 for admitting some of the substance to be dispensed from a storage receptacle 12 into the interior of the bag, and means 7 for applying lateral pressure to the bag to force some of its contents through the discharge orifice. The means 7 comprises a pivoted handle with a hump 9 which passes through a slot 10 in the housing 5 when the handle is operated by the fingers of an upturned hand thereby delivering a quantity of the substance into the palm of the hand. Return of the substance to receptacle 12, which may be a bottle, is prevented by the valve 6 which consists of a loose disc co-operating with a cylindrical bore in its closed position and a lugged bore in its open position. To facilitate replacement of the bottle 12, the apparatus is pivotally mounted on a plate 14 and held in its normal position by a snap fastener 16. Alternatively, the apparatus may have means for detachably mounting it on a vertical surface.
