385,871. Dispensing powders &c. DUPLAY, J. M. R. and BIEUVILLE, M. H., 13, Rue de l'Aquedue, Paris. June 28, 1932, No. 18284. Convention date, July 2, 1931. [Classes 18 and 125 (iii).] A measuring chamber 5 opening into the interior of the bottle or other receptacle 1 has a pivoted cover 10 connected with a valve 12 at the inner end of the chamber so that when the cover is fully open the valve is closed and a measured quantity is delivered, the parts being adapted to be held in an intermediate position to allow of a continuous flow. A cap 3 is threaded on the neck of the receptacle 1 and carries by lugs 6 a spindle 18 for the cover 10 which is extended to form a handle 7 and maintained closed by a spring 8. A rod 11 on the cover carries the valve 12 adapted to close the inner opening 4 of the measuring chamber 5 when the cover is fully opened. The spindle 18 passes through an elongated slot in the lever 7 so that the cover can be slid by pressure upon a projection 24 into the position shown in dotted lines to leave a slot 25 through which the powder &c. may be sprinkled. A stop 21 on the lever 7 co-operates with the end 20 of the spring to hold the cover in the position for sprinkling. An arm 23 projects from the valve 12 to prevent sticking of the powder in the receptacle. An auxiliary handle 9a is provided for use when the receptacle is fixed to a wall. The valve may be made elastic or sharp edged to avoid jamming. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the rod 11 on the cover carries midway of its length an additional valve plate 14 adapted to coact with a seating 4 between two measuring chambers 5, 15, and the lever 7 is mounted in a member 22 of U-section. In the position of rest shown the powder fills both measuring chambers ; movement of the lever 9 to register with the end of the member 22 closes the valve 14 and delivers the contents of chamber 5, while further movement of the lever 9 into the member 22 by pressure at 17 closes the valve 12 on a seating 13 and delivers the contents of chamber 15.
