Abstract
798,566. Tiering frames for pallets. ARROWHEAD PRODUCTS, Inc. Nov. 12, 1956 [Nov. 21, 1955], No. 34580/56. Class 78 (4). A tiering frame for a pallet is formed in two parts, each comprising an upper rail 9 (Fig. 1), and a pair of posts 7 which terminate in plates A adapted to rest on the pallet and each formed with at least one flange 15 (Fig. 3), which is brought into retaining engagement with part of the pallet by relative horizontal movement of the plates A permitted by resilience in the frame. Each plate A may have portions 17, 18 inserted beneath the deckboard 4<SP>1</SP> adjacent a stringer 2. The tang 18 (Fig. 3), is at an obtuse angle to the lug 17 to permit deckboards 41 of varying thickness to be engaged. Each rail 9 may be formed with a pin 12 and socket 11 by which the two portions of the tiering frame are joined and the posts 7 on opposite portions of the frame preferably lean inwards towards one another. To leave the surface of the pallet free the post 7 may be secured to brackets carried by the plates, as shown in Fig. 12 which illustrates a foot plate adapted to be secured at the middle of a side of a pallet; the tiering frame may thus be set with its four posts at the sides of the pallet to permit access to the load on the pallet from the corners.
