Abstract
798,525. Chucks. SHEFFIELD TWIST DRILL & STEEL CO., Ltd. Feb. 14, 1957 [Feb. 14, 1956], No. 4575/56. Class 83 (3). A tool-socket comprises an adaptor 9 engaging screw-threads 6 in a recess in a holder 3 and having a screwthreaded bore 13 through which the tool 12 is screwed into selflocking engagement with the bottom of the recess. Single or double-start threads of the same or different pitches may be used on the tool and in the recess, and the frustoconical adaptor may be split at 21 and also formed with external axial-grooves 22, Fig. 4 (not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 5, a number of axial-slots 23 in the adaptor may run into grooves 24 at the conical-end 10, which engages a conical-seating 7 in the recess.
