797,302. Ice making. RICHELLI, F. Dec. 8, 1955, No. 35237/55. Class 29 Ice blocks are formed in moulds 6 depending from the bottom 5 of a tank 1 containing precooled water. The moulds are made of plates 8 through which refrigerant is circulated by a distributer 9, and on partial defrosting of the mould the ice blocks rise to the surface of the water in the tank from where they are conveyed to a shoot by paddles 23 attached to an endless belt 22. The bottoms of the moulds 6 and the tank 1 are covered by a jacket of rubber or similar material between the layers of which fresh water circulates from tank 15, through pipes 16 to 19 before passing to the tank 1 by pipe 20. Air is forced into the moulds by pipes 12 in order to obtain clear ice. Refrigerated plates may be fitted inside the moulds to increase the speed of freezing. The sides of the mould may have projections and recesses to mark the ice.
