Abstract

646,947. Moulds for ice cream. OLDHAM, J. Dec. 8, 1947, No. 32364. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A mould for forming blocks of ice cream and the like consists of an open rectangular frame 1 adapted to receive one or more strips of sheet material 2 folded to produce substantially rectangular moulding compartments 3 separated by hollow partitions 4, the strips being adapted to fit closely within the frame. Abutment strips 5 are secured across the bottom of the frame 1 to locate the folded strip so that its alternating folds are coplanar with the edges of the frame. The frame may be fitted with a lid 6, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown). After freezing of the blocks the mould is immersed in water or other fluid at a thawing temperature so that a heat exchange sufficient for freeing the moulded material from the compartments is effected. The blocks may be removed by curving the folded strip into bow formation. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), two folded strips separated by a longitudinal hollow partition 7 are placed sideby-side in the frame 1.
