796,987. High vacuum diffusion pumps. HERAEUS, GES., W. C. Oct. 15, 1956 [Nov. 12, 1955], No. 31349/56. Class 71. Between the boiler 13 and a working nozzle 14 of a high vacuum diffusion pump is located a mechanical means, e.g., a Roots blower 20 for accelerating and compressing the vapours supplied to the nozzle 14 up the chimney 23, 17. Boiling of the liquid, e.g., oil is effected by heating tubes 21 and the vapour also ascends to nozzles 15, 16. Reduction of boiling point due to the suction effect of the blower 20 is compensated for by cooling tubes 22.
