Abstract

796,762. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 17, 1955 [Jan. 29, 1954], No. 2701/54. Class 39(1). Gas is admitted in the release of the vacuum in an evacuated vessel in a direction away from a surface carrying a deposited layer which may be damaged by the rush of gas. The end face 5 of C.R.T. 4 has a fluorescent screen on which is formed a layer of metal by vacuum deposition from a filament 9. The duct 6 can be raised or lowered through the neck 3 of the tube and air admitted through apertures 8 at the top end of the duct which direct the air radially.
