Abstract

793,353. Colour television tubes. SYLVANIATHORN COLOUR TELEVISION LABORATORIES, Ltd. Oct. 6, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954], No. 8345/57. Divided out of 793,351. [Group XL(b). Class 39(1). A cathode-ray tube screen made up of repeating groups of parallel stripes of materials which fluoresce in different colours is formed on the inner surface of the end wall of the tube by a method in which (1) the stripes are first formed on a thin base, such as nitro-cellulose, for example by a printing process, (2) the printed base is settled on the end wall, with the side bearing the fluorescent materials facing the wall, by a flotation process, for example using water, surface tension serving to pull the fluorescent materials into intimate contact with the wall, and (3) the base is removed by dissolving it by means of a suitable solvent or by heating during the vacuum bake of the tube.
