Abstract

626,989. Cathode-ray tubes. BROADWAY, L. F. Feb. 5, 1947, No. 3373. [Class 39 (i)] Cathode-ray tube apparatus comprises a cathode-ray tube, the screen end 1 of which is made as a pressing of glass or other suitable material provided with a peripheral rim 2 which is fused to the remainder of the tube, and a locating element 3 made of rigid material which is preferably an insulator, formed with a central rectangular aperture 5 through which the screen end of the tube is exposed. The locating element has an annular surface 4 formed by means of a die which is accurately complementary to the die employed for forming the outer surface of the screen end of the tube, thus locating the tube axially and laterally in the apparatus.
