Class 97(3) A device for attachment to a drawing instrument to facilitate drawing equidistant parallel straight lines comprises a main plate to be secured to the instrument, a slide assembly extending through corresponding slots in the plate and the instrument and including a top plate slidable on the main plate and a base adapted to bear on the drawing surface and also an abutment plate adjustable on the main plate to limit the movement of the slide assembly. In the form shown there is secured to the set square 4 a plate 1 having a longitudinal slot 2 bridged by a portion P and having an upstanding lug 1<SP>11</SP>. A plate 6 slotted at 7 slides on the lug 1<SP>11</SP> and a bolt 9 and may be clamped by a nut 8. Members 10, 10<SP>1</SP> slide in the slot 2 and in a slot 5 in the set square and are secured by screws 13 between plates 11, 12, the latter of which is also located in the slot 5. The assembly 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, 11, 12, 13 is urged towards one limit of its travel by a spring 14 anchored to the bridge 1<SP>1</SP>, the travel being adjustable by setting the plate 6. In use, pressure is applied to the plate 11 to hold the plate 12 in frictional contact with the paper and the set square then moved to the limit of permitted travel against the spring 14 and pressure applied to it. The plate 11 is then released to allow the spring 14 to contract and the procedure is repeated.
