Abstract

795,993. Milling-cutters. SOC. DES FORGES ET ATELIERS DU CREUSOT. March 29, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 9881/56. Class 83 (3). A milling-cutter comprises annularcutters 4 mounted on carriers 5 secured to arms 2 on the body 1 of the milling- cutter, the carriers being rotatable about their axes to expose different parts of the cutting-edges of the cutters. The cutter 4 is clamped to the carrier 5 by a nut 7 on the screwthreaded shaft 8 of a clamping-plate 6, and the carrier secured to the arm by a further nut 10 on the shaft 8. A pin 12 in the arm 2 engages one of a series of holes 13 in the carrier to locate it during tightening of the nut 10, the position of the locating-holes being indicated by an index 14, on the carrier, which co-operates with a fixedpointer 15 on the arm. For milling a groove, two angular-settings of the carriers are used, spaced apart by 180 degrees. Weights 16 secured by screws 17 balance the milling-cutter statically.
