795,912. Grilling apparatus. STEWART IN-FRA-RED, Inc. Aug. 24, 1956, No. 25929/56. Class 28 (1). [Also in Group XI] An infra-red grilling and cooking oven comprises a sheet metal cabinet having half-way up its inner wall a rectangular bracket 12 carrying a horizontal food support or grill 13. The bracket 12 supports two concave reflectors 14, 18 each carrying sources of infra-red radiation, e.g. quartz electric lamps 15, the lower reflector 14 being fixed. The upper reflector 18 is mounted by a piano-hinge 17 to the rear flange of the bracket 12 and carries a pair of arms 35 pivoted at one end to the reflector 18 and at the other end to the ends of arms 34, the other ends of which are pivoted to flanges 33 on door 26 of the oven, so that when the door is closed, the upper reflector is lowered on to the lower reflector, and when the door 26 is turned down, the upper reflector is angularly raised to give access to food on the support 13. Current is supplied through a cable 22 and a. manual regulator 23. The cabinet may have louvres in the side walls. A lower hinged door 24 for servicing may be held closed by captive screws.
