In a gas or electric grill in which a radiant surface 9 is pivotable between a vertical out-ofuse position and a horizontal position of use, a hinge down door 10, which forms a food support below the radiant surface, is mounted on a pair of spaced parallel arms 14 hinged to the grill supporting structure 8 so that the door 10 on a panel thereof may be raised or lowered with respect to the arms 14. As shown, Fig. 1, the door is connected to the arms 14 by slotted links 12, 13, a link 12 releasably engaging a lug 21 on the arm 14 to retain the door in the normal position. To lower the door, it is first slightly raised to release the link 12 and then pulled forward, the links pivoting on studs 20 to a nearly vertical position determined by the engagement of a projection 26 on one or each of the links 13 with a horizontal flange forming part of the arms 14. In another embodiment (not shown), the door has an inner panel which may be raised and moved inwardly on swing links pivoted on the outer panel or on the arms. The inner and outer panels may be lowered together as described above. Specification 928,041 is referred to.
