Abstract

1339469 Toaster oven GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 1 Nov 1971 [19 Nov 1970] 50602/71 Heading A4D [ Also in Divisions F4 and H5] An electric oven toaster comprises two side plates 22, 24 spaced from each other and having a plurality of slots 40, 42 in their upper portions into which tabs 46, 48 on an upper reflecting plate 43 are fitted and also each having two circular apertures 50, 52, 54, 56 into which insulators 64, 66 placed on the ends of sheathedelectric elements 26, 28 are placed and having apertures 108, 110 in the front lower portions into which pivot pins on the front door are fitted. The end plates are also connected by reflecting panels 31, 33. Two lower sheathed elements 32, 34 are held in insulators 75 at their ends and are covered by an apertured baffle plate 36. The ends of these lower elements pass through apertures 94, 96 in the end plates. The inside surfaces of the cooking chamber reflect the heat from the elements to evenly heat the food to be cooked which is supported on a grill 4. The door is constructed from a sheet metal inner panel 150, an outer panel 152 and a glass window held between them. A handle 156 is provided and its retaining screws 252 also hold the door panels together. The bottom right hand corner of the door has a bracket which supports the window and has a pin (106) which extends to fit into aperture 110. The left hand hinge assembly Fig. 2 comprises a flat plate 176 rivetted to the inner door panel 150 and flanges (186), 188 through which one arm of a generally U-shaped hinge pin 180 is fitted to engage aperture 108. Flanges 190 and 212 prevent movement of the window. Flange 190 also supports the linkage 230 which connects with pin 235 which supports the grill 4. The door is removed after separating the panels by rotating and removing the pin 180 and disconnecting the linkages 230.
