1327330 Window for oven door MILLS PRODUCTS INC 13 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 47600/71 Heading A4D A window unit for use in the oven door of a self-cleaning oven includes a series of rotatable louvres 28, thermally responsive means 24 and means 50 inter-connecting the louvres and the thermally responsive means to rotate the louvres between an open position during cooking operations and a closed position during the cleaning operation. As illustrated the louvres are located between a pair of glass panels 20, 22 having a spacer (24) therebetween. The louvres 28 have pivot members 38 at their ends, the pins 40 of which pass through apertures in the horizontal arms 30, of the spacer. Cam-members 42 are secured to the pins 40. Each cam member has a flat portion 44 adjacent the spacer and diametrically opposed ears 46, 48. The channel shaped inter-connecting member 50 has notches 54 in the wall 52 which interengage with the cut-away portion 56 of ear 48. Ear 46 prevents lateral displacement of the member 50. The member 50 is attached at one end to a bimetallic strip 64 which is firmly fixed at its lower end to the side arm 32 of the spacer. During normal cooking the bimetallic strip will not flex but when the higher cleaning temperatures are attained the strip flexes to the right as shown. Member 50 is also moved to the right causing the cam-members and the louvres to turn anticlockwise. The edges of adjacent louvres overlap when in the fully closed position. The outer peripheral edge of the unit is closed by a channel shaped member (not shown) which may have brackets attached to fix it to the oven door. The oven-door may have a further glass plate on its outer surface with a ventilated air-space between the plate and the window unit.
