[Also in Group XXXVI] A distance fitting for spacing apart contact or catenary wires in an overhead electric traction system comprises an insulating member in the form of a bar, rod or tube of resin-bonded glass fibre with means at each end for attachment to the wires, e.g. adjustable two-part clamps which may be adapted to swivel. The fitting may be used in systems where there is normally only one overhead contact wire, but where two such wires run in parallel over a section of the track as, for example, at sidings branching from the main track.
