Abstract

795,518. Swash-plate motors. HOOYDONK, A. H. VAN. June 30, 1954 [March 30, 1953; July 9, 1953], Nos. 8771/53 and 19132/53. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] In a revolving cylinder motor, the pistons co-operate with a swash-plate 16 and the cylinder block is supported by a thrust bearing 24 in a stirrup member 23 that is pivoted on trunnion members 21, 22 and is adjustable to vary the stroke of the motor. A cylindrical stationary valve member 28 has slots 45, 46 cooperating with the cylinder ports and is supported by a thrust member 65 carried by the stirrup member. The slot 46 communicates with the inside of the casing 17 whilst the slot 45 communicates through a passage 48 in an arm 49 with a passage 55 in a connector 51 that is slidable in a socket 50 in the arm 49 and has packing rings 52, 53. The connector 51 is connected by a flexible hose 56 with a similar connector 58 in the trunnion 21 that has a liquid passage 60. In a modification shown in Fig. 4, a cylinder head 75 is secured to the cylinder block 27 and has passages 76 communicating with the cylinder spaces. A distance piece 81 is clamped by a bolt 83 between a bridge member 82 and the cylinder head 75 so that a guide is formed for an annular valve 86 which is arranged eccentrically to the ring of ports 76. To provide resilience to the land 98, a deep groove 93 is provided from a shallow groove 96 which is fitted with a non-metallic ring 95 and a metal ring 97 so that pressure liquid can act on a small area and force the land against the bridge member 82. The valve acts as a reversing valve by varying its eccentricity and has stems 87, 88 guided in cylinders 89, 90 in the stirrup member. The stem 87 has a bore leading to a liquid passage 91 in the valve and the stem 88 is solid and can be supplied with fluid pressure to move the valve. In a modification, the valve is pivoted so that it can move to vary its eccentricity to the ports 76.
