794,779. Making rims for tubeless tyres. KRONPRING AKT.-GES. May 9, 1956 [May 10, 1955; June 20, 1955; July 14, 1955], No. 14407/56. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] A tubeless tyre b has its beads b<SP>1</SP> permanently sealingly seated on, or bonded to, a flanged rim member a which is a detachable part of a wheel, the rim member having been first cold worked to a preliminary shape permitting the tyre to be mounted thereon before subsequent completion of the cold-shaping of the rim member. As shown, the rim member has a flat base with a corrosion-resistant layer c, such as lacquer or phosphate, on its tyre-facing surface and may be formed initially of smaller diameter than its final shape, beingsubsequently expanded after mounting of the tyre. Alternatively, one or both the flanges a<SP>2</SP> of the rim may be formed after assembly of the tyre. The bonding of the beads bl to the rim may be effected by enclosing the tyre and rim assembly in a two-part mould, and over-inflating the tyre, heat being applied to the bead areas if necessary. The tyre b may be formed without reinforcing inserts in its beads.
