796,261. Making wheel rims; stamping. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. Oct. 1, 1956 [April 23, 1956], No. 29835/56. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a method of forming a tubeless tyre wheel rim with an integral mounting flange 13, Fig. 2, an annular blank, Fig. 1, preformed with a recessed portion 7 between one of the bead seats 2 and the drop centre 6 is upset between dies 9, 10 to form the flange 13 in the region of the recessed portion 7 with the bead seat 2 overlapping one end of the drop centre 6. The die 9 provides internal support for one of the bead seats 3 and the drop centre 6. The die 10 supports the other bead seat 2 over an annular projection 11. Relative axial movement of the dies is limited by stop faces 16, 17. In the formed rim a folded portion 15 adjoining the bead seat 2 engages over the edge 14 of the drop centre 6 to provide support for the bead seat 2.
