794,515. Selvedge shedding-mechanism for looms. VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENI. June 10, 1955 [Aug. 30, 1954], No. 16705/55. Classes 142(2) and 142(4) A lens weave is used to form a selvedge wefts 3, 3<SP>1</SP> being locked by two selvedge warps 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and a binding warp 1. Shedding- mechanism to form the selvedge comprises a needle 8 carrying the warp end 1 and connected to a lower heald shaft 61 members 17, 17<SP>1</SP> each carrying one of the ends 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and slidable in a bracket 15 (to cross the ends 2,2<SP>1</SP>) by a rack and pinion 16 and a grooved shaft 14 on which the bracket 15 slides when the shed is changed. The shaft 14 is oscillated by a further rack and pinion 13, 20, the rack 13 receiving its movement from an arm 12 on an eccentric 11 mounted on a shaft 10. The weft is cut after each invention and may be carried through the shed by a jet of air or liquid.
