Abstract
793,989. Centrifugal separators. KOPPERS GES., H. Feb. 13, 1956 [Feb. 11, 1955], No. 4415/56. Class 23 In apparatus for separating liquid particles from a mixture of gas and particles by passing the mixture through passages formed between helical vanes 9, the surfaces of the vanes slope from the axis towards their peripheries. The mixture enters the apparatus through the inlet 3, and the cleaned gas is discharged through openings 14 and an outlet 13 whilst the separated liquid drains to the bottom of the apparatus to discharge through an outlet 20. Flaps 17, which may be,turned to close some of the passages are provided to enable the apparatus to deal efficiently with different volumes of mixture. Plates 23 having slots 24 to engage the leading edges of the vanes may be used to close redundant passages. In a modification, the gas outlet is formed by a pipe having a right-angled bend, the pipe passing through the wall of the apparatus above the vanes. Dimensions of the apparatus are given in the Specification.
