793,769. Pneumatic conveyers. HERMANNS, W. Dec. 11, 1956, No. 37852/56. Class 78 (1). Material from a heap 1 is sucked through a pipe 4 into a chamber 3 and expelled therefrom by compressed air through a pipe 16. The suction side of an air compressor 9 is connected by a pipe 8 to the upper part of the chamber and the pressure side is connected by a pipe 12 to an annular conduit 13 which surrounds the chamber. Hoses 14 with air-permeable walls are connected to the conduit 13 and extend radially into the chamber. They lie, preferably, in corrugations formed on the bottom. The inlet 5 of the pipe 4 has a thinner pipe 6 inserted in it which extends above the heap 1. A valve 7 is provided to shut off the chamber from the pipe 4. A branch pipe 11 on the pipe 8 is controlled by a cock 10 and opens to atmosphere. A similar pipe 19 is provided on the pipe 12. A shut-off valve 17 is provided on the pipe 16. When the compressor is started, if the valve 17 is shut, the cock 18 adjusted to connect the pipe 19 to atmosphere, the cock 10 adjusted to connect the suction side of the compressor to the chamber and the valve 7 is open, material will be sucked from the heap 1 into the chamber. When the chamber is full, the valve 7 is closed, the cock 10 is changed over to connect the suction side of the compressor to atmosphere, the cock 18 is changed to connect the compression side to the conduit 13 and the valve 17 opened. Air then passes through the hoses into the material and conveys it through the pipe 16.
