Abstract
793,053. Paper bags: closing bags. PAPER SACKS, Ltd. May 1, 1956 [May 11, 1955], No. 13671/55. Classes 94(1), 94(2) and 133. A paper bag or sack of the kind closed by doubling a closure strip over the open end and sewing it in position has one or more handle loops attached by securing their ends beneath the closure strip. The loop ends may be adhesively secured to one face of the bag and the loop 2 folded onto the other face over the open end and again correspondingly adhesively secured. The closure strip 3 is folded over the bag and handle ends and stitched in position. Two handles may be fitted at. one bag end, the handle ends being initially secured by adhesive and then reverse folded onto the faces to which they are attached. The closure strip is secured as before. The invention may be applied to the closure of filled bags. The bags may have valves and be multi-ply. The handles may be of paper reinforced with stitching or of fabric &c. The stitching may interlace with a sisal or like cord.
