Abstract
682,642. Securing sacks. SWANSON, E. C. Nov. 7, 1950, No. 27145/50. Class 94(ii) Readily releasable means for securing sacks comprise a pair of cords 14, 17 stitched along the normally open end of the sack, with the cord 14 passing through the two plies of the sack to form integral loops 15 and returning through the same openings 16 through which they enter, while the cord 17 at the other side of the sack, without passing through the material, is formed into loops 18 that are located entirely within the loops 15, so that by stitching tightly the loops 15 will grip and retain the loops 18, a succession of such stitches across the width of the bag being completed in the same manner on and through a resilient V- shaped strip 12 folded exteriorly about a closed edge of the bag at a position near to the mouth. The respective cords terminate in extended portions 19 and 20 which, when pulled, will draw the loops 18 out of the loops 15 to separate the two cords and open the end of the sack. The strip 12 may be of plastic material or metal.
