Abstract
748,485. Neckties. HOLLOWS, G. Sept. 23, 1954 [Oct. 5, 1953], No. 27207/53. Class 141. A made-up necktie is constructed from at least one elongated blank of textile fabric woven from monofils of thermoplastic, non-absorbent material (e.g. saran), opposite edges of the blank being folded inwards to provide a double thickness of material and subjected to heat and pressure to retain the fabric in a folded position. A necktie simulating a conventional knotted tie consists of two elongated blanks A, B, Fig. 4, the side portions a<1> of the blank A being folded inwards at a<2>, and a smaller substantially triangular blank C secured to the superimposed upper ends of A, B, and doubled over the closed elastic loop E and fastened at the back of the tie by a fastener F. A modified form of necktie simulating a conventional bow consists of two superimposed main blanks G, Fig. 9, each having lateral and end tabs g<2>, g<3> respectively, folded inwards upon its central rectangular portion g<1> in the manner of a stationery envelope, and a smaller longitudinally-folded blank H secured around the central parts of envelopes G, the imitation bow being attached to an elastic band or to saran strips k whose free ends are connected to an elastic member L.
