Abstract

625,601. Bags. UNION BAG & PAPER CORPORATION. April 29, 1947. No. 11438. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1946. [Class 133] A carrier bag 10 comprises a body having opposite flat sides 11 and a pair of handles, each composed of a single flat strip of flexible material and having its substantially parallel ends 18 secured to the body and its intermediate portion prefolded sharply outwardly and downwardly on definite diagonal lines and unfolding to form a grip portion 17. The strips are preferably made of tough flexible paper folded upon itself (Fig. 5) to form a number of plies secured together as by pasting and pasted to the bag. The bag has infolding pleated sides 12 and a bottom formed of extensions 13a of the sides 11, one side being folded to form a flap 14 pasted to the adjacent face of one of the portions 13a (Fig. 1). In opening, the portions 13a swing inwardly on the lines 15 to form a square bottom.
