Abstract
921,752. Making paper &c. bags. PAUL MOORE CO. Ltd. May 15, 1961 [Feb. 24, 1961], No. 17672/61. Class 94(2). A method of making thermoplastics bags comprises pressing a combined heater and cutter bar on to a web having a longitudinal gusset fold. In one form a heater cutter bar 70 is pressed on to two webs 30, 301 folded and superimposed as shown in Fig. 14 to cut through them and simultaneously heat seal them together. The member 60 prevents the two folds of the gusset from being sealed together. If a single web is used the portion 101 of the cutter which seals the edges 302, 401 is dispensed with. According to the Specification a prior art bag is made from a blank folded over at d, Fig. 6, and heat sealed along edges a. Two square shaped portions are cut out at e and the bag is opened and re-folded so the seams a lie along the centre of the bag, Fig. 7. The bottom edges f formed of the sides of the squares are then sealed to complete the bag.
