Abstract

792,881. Multiple-ply paper-board. PATENT & LICENSING CORPORATION. Feb. 1, 1956, No. 3230/56. Class 96. Interposed between vats 23, 24 of a multicylinder paper-board-making machine is a tank 40 containing an aqueous dispersion of e.g. asphalt and clay which is picked up by a roll 42 which is grooved longitudinally or transversely, and is surfaced with a wire-cloth 44, dispersion being blown, from the wire-cloth 44 to the underside of a wet web of pulp which has been picked up by a travelling felt 29, by airjets from a pipe 60, a further ply being felted on to the web which has thus been treated. Asphalt emulsion and water are supplied through pipes 48 and 50 respectively.
