Abstract

791,975. Land rollers. HYSTER CO. Dec. 5, 1955, No. 34835/55. Class 6(1). A roller is provided with a rim 31 formed with apertures or openings 32 and a core 17 which provides a space between its exterior and the interior of the rim into which mud may be intruded through the rim on adjustable scraper blade 19 being fixed to the roller frame and cooperating with the core to remove mud from the exterior of the core. As shown the roller is open at one end for the ejection of mud and is provided with a hub assembly 35 by which the roller is rotatably mounted on a shaft, including an oil reservoir filled by means of a pipe 71. The core 17 may be filled with ballast through an opening 83. Two rollers are mounted side by side on a frame arranged to be towed by a vehicle. In a modification the scraper blade is arranged to scrape the inner surface of the rim of the roller and the blade may be supported by the roller shaft and maintained in position by a pendulum weight. In a further embodiment the core is connected to the centre portion of the roller rim and converges in opposite directions towards the ends of the roller, both ends of the roller being open. The frame carries two scraper blades co-operating with the core. In a further modification a cylindrical core is provided joined to the rim by a centrally disposed web, a scraper blade being provided at each end of the roller, the blades projecting inside the roller and co-operating with the core.
