791,896. Winding yarns. SOC. RHODIACETA. May 7, 1956 [June 8, 1955], No. 14126/56. Class 120(2) Thread is fed to a bobbin having conical end checks through a guide slot in a thread guide adapted to oscillate with constant amplitude about a fixed point and the thread guide given a sudden appreciable increase in angular velocity slightly before the points at which its direction of motion is reversed, and 'rapidly restored to its initial angular velocity slightly after the change of direction has occurred. A thread guide lever 1, pivoted at 2, is connected by means of a slit 4 and pin 5 with a member 6 pivoted at 7 on a reciprocating rod 8 which oscillates the guide 1. A roller 10 is rotatably mounted on the member 6 and engages with one of the abutments 14, 15 on a fixed member 13 when the guide approaches a reversal point. This engaging of the roller 10 causes the member 6 to pivot about 10 and thus gives increased angular velocity to the guide 1 through the pin and slot connections 4, 5. Immediately after the reversal of the direction of motion of the rod 8 and therefore the guide lever 1, the member 6 continues to pivot about the roller 10 until it moves, away from the abutment, when the pivoting ceases; the member 6 is returned to its normal position by springs 11, 12 and the angular velocity of the guide 1 resumes its initial value. In a second embodiment, both the member 13 and rod 8 are reciprocated by a helical grooved cam. oscillation of the member 13 being parallel to but of smaller amplitude than and out of phase with that of the rod 8. This arrangement gives a larger or smaller increased angular velocity immediately after reversal than before according as the member 13 is lagging or leading the rod 8.
