Abstract

A composition comprises (a) 10-40 per cent by weight of a rubbery copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile; (b) 50-88 per cent of a resinous copolymer of a major proportion of styrene, alpha-methyl styrene, para-methyl styrene, alpha-methyl para-methyl styrene, or a nuclearly chlorinated styrene and a minor proportion of acrylonitrile; and (c) from 2 to 30 per cent of polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of a major proportion of vinyl chloride and a minor proportion of copolymerizable monomer such as vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride and diethyl maleate, the mixture being essentially free from liquid plasticizer. The rubbery copolymer may have a gel content imparted by cross linking with divinyl benzene during emulsion polymerization. Admixture of the components of the composition may be effected by blending aqueous dispersions or slurries or by dry blending, and a small amount of monomeric styrene may be included as transient lubricant and processing aid. The composition, which may also include pigments, anti-oxidants and stabilizers, is suitable for the production of embossed sheets. Specifications 632,722 and 670,131 are referred to.
