Abstract

A homogenous fluid consists of from 10 to 60 parts by weight of a copolymer of 50 to 80 per cent of vinylidene chloride with 20 to 50 per cent of vinyl chloride or other monomer and from 40 to 90 parts of a natural or synthetic rubber. The vinyl chloride may be replaced by a preferably smaller quantity of vinyl acetate, diethyl maleate, diethyl fumarate or methyl methacrylate. The rubbers may be Hevea rubber, polymers of butadiene, isoprene and chloroprene, or copolymers of butadiene with vinylacetate, acrylonitrile or styrene. The composition is preferably blended on a rubber mill optionally with the addition of a solvent such as benzene, toluene or ethylene dichloride.ALSO:A homogenous blend consists of from 10 to 60 parts by weight of a copolymer of 50-80 per cent. of vinylidene chloride with 20-50 per cent. of vinyl chloride, or other monomer instead of the latter, and from 40 to 90 parts of a natural or synthetic rubber. The vinyl chloride may be replaced by a preferably smaller quantity of vinyl acetate, diethyl maleate, diethyl fumarate, or methyl methacrylate. The rubbers may be Hevea rubber, polymers of butadiene, isoprene, and chloroprene; and copolymers of butadiene with vinylacetate, acrylonitrile or styrene. The composition is preferably blended on a rubber mill optionally with the addition of a solvent such as benzene, toluene or ethylene dichloride.
