Abstract

791,630. Feeding sheets. INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO. Oct. 3,1955 [July 5, 1955], No. 28080/55. Class 100(1) [Also in Group XVII] A machine for making multi-walled gusseted valve bags (see Group XVII) has means for feeding bag tubes from the base of a vertical stack to a valving and sleeving station: The bag tubes, Figs. 24, are stacked on a table 5, Fig. 6, with their edges G overhanging the edge of the table. The overhanging portion of the lowermost tube H is engaged by suction plates 11 on a rock shaft 10, and the tubes above are separated from it adjacent the edge G by parts 43, Fig. 9, of spring members 39, Figs. 6, 9 and 12, which are pressed forward by members 38 on a rock shaft 35. The plates 11 swing downwards and parts 42 of the members 39 engage the gusset at edge G of the tube H to open it for reception of picker fingers 65 on a shaft 61. Members 34 on a rock shaft 33 support the stack while the tube H is bent downwards, its gusset being spread by the fingers 65. After its release by the plates 11, the tube H is gripped between feed segments 63 and 58 on shafts 61, 24 and by gripper assemblies 74 on chains 70, Figs. 6, and 12. These pull the tube H clear of the stack. Specification 781,623 [Group XVII] is referred to.
