Abstract
680,674. Feeding sheets. SPIESS, G. June 26, 1950, No. 15905/50. Class 100 (i). In mechanism for separating flat paper &c. bags from a pile 9 by combined pneumatic and mechanical means, the pile is supported on a curved support which may, as shown, comprise a series of rollers 3 arranged to form a parabolic curve. The rear end of the pile rests on an adjustable stop 7, and the front end abuts a stop 5 provided with a spring finger 6 adapted to support the front edge of the pile. The pile is also supported by a roller 4. The front edge of the bottom bag is separated from the pile by suckers 11 on arms 12 adapted to be oscillated about a shaft 13, and is held around the roller 4, whereupon a pair of rollers 23 is swung to press the bag end against the roller 4, the rollers 4 and 23 are then driven, and the bag is separated from the pile. A curved plate 39 guides the bag between two further feed rollers 40, 41 which deliver the bag to a printing or other machine. The sucker arms 12 are rocked by cams 19 which also rock arms 21 pivoted at 22 and carrying the rollers 23. The cams 19 and rollers 4, 23 are driven by chain-and-sprocket gearing from a shaft 28.
