Abstract

312,158. Rockstroh, W. May 21, 1928, [Convention date]. Sheet-separators.-In a, sheet-feeding machine of the kind in which the front edges of the sheets of a pile are fed by suction members over a feedtable to the impression cylinder of a printing machine, the rear edges of the sheet are separated by means of one or more tilting and rising suction members 3, which from the contacting position shown in Fig. 1, are first tilted by means of a cam 5 and lever-and-link mechanism 7, 8, 9, and then raised by a cam 19 acting on slotted links 11 which carry the suction members. To prevent double feed, a pivoted suction holding device 16 carried by a tube 15, mounted in oscillating arms 14, is moved by a cam 19 from its position at the rear of the pile, shown in Fig. 1, to the position shown in Fig. 3. as soon as the suction members 3 are raised. The movement of the device 16 is guided by a lever arm 18 having a roller guided by a fixed slot 17. The device 16 holds the sheet next to the top one as the top sheet is being forwarded by the front suction members.
