Abstract

791,557. Injection-moulding machines. WINDSOR, Ltd., R. H. June 22,1956 [July 1, 1955], No. 19069/55. Class 87(2). The conveyer screw 8 which rotates and reciprocates axially within the cylinder 4, 5, has an enlarged cylindrical piston head 8a the outer diameter of which is equal or substantially equal to the diameter of the screw threads. On the interior of the cylinder are slots 5b, Figs. 1 and 2, or an annular recess 5c, Fig. 3, the slots or recess being so located that when the screw is in its rearmost position, as shown, plasticised material that is being pushed forward by the rotating screw threads passes through the slots or recess into the forward chamber 10 of the cylinder. When the chamber 10 has been filled the screw advances to the left and the piston head 8a pushes material out of the chamber into the mould. A nozzle valve 12 is automatically opened and closed by means including a lever and link mechanism 13 and a hydraulic cylinder 14. A device 11 measures the pressure of the material in chamber 10.
