Abstract
790,740. Comminuting apparatus. PINTSCH BAMAG AKT.-GES. June 29, 1956 [July 1, 1955], No. 20198/56. Class 59 [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for comminuting metallic shavings or turnings comprises a plurality of rotatable beater blades 1 movable between a plurality of serrated arcuate members 2 to effect a preliminary tearing apart of the shavings &c. before these are allowed to pass further into the apparatus. The members 2, the serrations of which are staggered, are pivoted at 3 to the casing of the apparatus and are secured at their other ends to a plate 4 which is adjustable by means of a hand wheel 5. The shavings &c. are further comminuted by means of tearing members 7 between which the beater blades move, a plurality of tapered deflecting members 8 serving to guide in- 144 sufficiently comminuted material back into the comminution zone. Sufficiently comminuted material is ejected through a conduit 12a. The members 7, 8 are arranged on a flap 12 which can be opened to allow access to the interior of the apparatus. A plurality of tearing teeth 10 may be provided on a spring-loaded flap 11. The inlet to the supply hopper 6 is provided with a hinged closure flap 13, Fig. 3, which is adjustably counterpoised by means of a weight 16, spring or pneumatic piston; alternatively, Fig. 4 (not shown), the hopper is provided with two such closure flaps.
