Abstract

789,831. Swivelling couplings. REDLER CONVEYORS, Ltd. Aug. 30, 1955 [Jan. 4, 1955], No. 24888/55. Class 38 (1). An insulated conductor in a haulage rope 10 is soldered into a domed metal stud 31 in an insulating block 29 in one part 13 of a swivelling connector for the rope, the stud 31 co-operating with a similar stud 37 in a spring-urged plunger 34 which is non-rotatably slidable in the other part 12 of the connector. The part 12 together with a cap 17 is bolted to, for example, a scraper shovel 11. The rope 10 is secured by metal wedges 25, 26 in a stem part 22 of connector-part 13 and swivelling is permitted by co-operating inclined surfaces 19 on the stem part 22 and cap 17. A neck 20 on the cap has a seal 21 which is protected by a shield 27 on the stem 22. A leaf spring 43 ensures electrical continuity between the two metal connector parts 12, 13 and an outer metal part of the rope.
