Abstract

1,189,801. Thermal switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 2 Jan., 1969, No. 217/69. Addition to 1,140,726. Heading H1N. An electric cable for a fire-warning system comprises a pair of parallel conductors 2, Fig. 2, which are bridged by a slug 4 of low-melting point metal which enters through a gap 3 in the cable cover on melting. The gap 3 is disposed at one end of the slug 4 to prevent inadvertent operation and is surrounded by a metal clip 7 crimped over a resilient pad 6. In a modification the clip 7 and pad 6 are replaced by a resilient sleeve.
