Abstract

789,008. Floors; reinforced concrete. BETTLES, J. W. E. July 4, 1955 [Dec. 11 1954], No. 35932/54. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXII] In the manufacture of open metal flooring, stair treads, metal reinforcement fabric or the like comprising parallel main bars 2 connected by wedge-shape channelled cross bars 3, the main bars are formed with dove-tail notches 1 of less depth than the cross bars and after being inserted therein the cross bars are pressed downwardly to distort the lower portions of their legs 5 at 5a and hence secure the cross bars within the notches. After pressing, the upper'surface of the cross bars are flush with the upper surfaces of the main bars. The width of the cross bars at the top is slightly larger than the original width of the mouth of the notches whereby no gaps are left in the surface of the joint after pressing.
