Abstract

741,539. Staircases. SCAFFOLDING (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd. Nov. 29, 1954 [Nov. 30, 1953], No. 33182/53. Class 20(4). A staircase comprises a pair of spaced stringers A between which are suspended alternate risers B and treads C, each riser consisting of a metal plate B1 having along its upper and lower longitudinal edges, integral flanges B2, B3 attached respectively to the treads C next above and below and at its ends, rearwardly extending flanges B4 attached to the inner faces of the stringers A and each tread C constituted by a sheet metal plate C1 so shaped that in conjunction with the inner faces of the stringers A and the outer face of the riser next above it forms a tray or receptacle adapted to retain concrete, asphalt or analogous cementitions or other appropriate material C3 placed thereon to form a tread surface. As shown, the first longitudinal edge of the plate C1 is formed with an upwardly turned rim or lip C2 to contain the cement C3 and the flanges B2, B3 and B4 are bolted, welded or spot-welded to the treads C and stringers A.
