Abstract

Polyamide textile materials are treated with an aqueous or aqueous alcoholic colloidal solution or emulsion of an N-methoxymethyl polyamide in the presence of a linear polyester produced from a dihydric alcohol and a dibasic acid soluble at least in hot water, and are thereafter heated at above 100 DEG C. In examples: (1) polycaprolactam fibres are treated with an aqueous methanol solution containing N-methoxymethylpolycaprolactam and a water-soluble succinic acid-glycol polyester and are heated at 105 DEG C.; (4) similar reagents are included in an aqueous-ethanol solution which also includes sodium chloride.
