788,035. Driving belts. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. March 29, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 9835/56. Class 80 (1). A toothed belt 10 for engagement with toothed pulleys 16, 17 for positive driving comprises teeth 11 of natural or synthetic rubber, or organic plastics of similar physical characteristics, or a mixture thereof, a cushioning layer 12 of similar but softer substance bonded thereto and an outer load-carrying band 13 with strands 14 arranged lengthwise of the belt. The band 13 may comprise cotton yarns treated to remove stretch, continuous glass fibre filament yarns or fine wire.
