Abstract
969,468. Belt gearing. TAKASAGO GOMU KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. June 15, 1963, No. 23935/63. Heading F2Q. In a high-speed, light-weight belt drive between grooved pulleys 3, 4 a rotary ring 1 of elastic material is inserted loosely into the groove of at least one pulley, and a thin driving belt 2 engages the external surface of the ring 1 and presses it into contact with the side walls of the pulley. The ring 1 may have a peaked or rounded periphery and the belt 2 may be correspondingly shaped or may be flat. Grip between the ring 1 and belt 2 may be increased by projections on the ring. The ring 1 may be of natural or synthetic rubber synthetic resin or a combination of these with various kinds of fibres. A number of thin endless belts 2 may be superimposed on each other, and each belt may comprise steel wire, cotton or synthetic fabric, nylon synthetic resin, rubber, or a combination of these materials. To facilitate mounting of the ring 1 the pulley 3 may be formed as shown in two parts held by a nut 5 and keyed on a driving shaft 6.
