Abstract
787,443. Harvesting beet. STOLL, W. Dec. 20, 1955 [Dec. 24, 1954], No. 36445/55. Class 6(3). A beet-harvesting machine is provided with shares arranged in V-fashion, the apex of the V extending rearwardly and downwardly. In one form shown, the shares 19, 20 are secured to stems 9, 10 which are mounted by U-bolts 12 on a cross-bar 11 so that the shares are adjustable vertically and transversely. The shares have rearwardly-extending parallel portions 23 at their rear ends which define a throat to accommodate the tails of the beets. Rods 24 extend rearwardly to a cleaning drum 25. On one side an inclined rotary spinner 26 replaces the rods 24. In a modification, the drum 25 extends laterally of the shares and the rods 24 are bent around in arcuate formation to deflect the beets through 90 degrees. The inner edges of the shares are rounded.
