Class 64(1) An air-heating apparatus comprises a combustion chamber 5, a source of heat, such as a liquid fuel burner 3, an air-circulation chamber 6, a fresh air blower 2, a heat exchanger 9 formed by a system of plates between which the burnt gases 7 flow substantially vertically and the air 8 to be heated flows substantially horizontally, and air conduits 10 passing through the chamber 5 and above which are provided means, such as refractory bricks 11, to lengthen the path of the burnt gases. The conduits 10 connect the zones of the circulation chamber 6, which are respectively at the front and rear of the combustion chamber 5. An outlet 4 is provided for the hot air and a second outlet (not shown) for the burnt gases is provided in the vicinity of the base of the apparatus. Forced fresh air circulated in the space between a wall 12 and the outer wall 1 of the apparatus prevents excessive heating of the latter.
