Abstract

786,613. Wells. BUTLER, G. A. Feb. 23, 1956 [Aug. 4, 1955], No. 5695/56. Class 85 [Also in Group XXVIII] A control head fitting 20 has a flange 21 and two vertical passages 24, 25, the passage 24 being connected to a flow line 11, a valve 41 being provided to control flow in the passage 24, and a flow line 12 passing through' the passage 25. The passage 24 has a branch 50 and is provided with a fitting 30 having a pressure gauge 34. The line 12 is joined to a pipe 87 having a valve 88 by a sleeve 62 which engages a seat 60 to support the line. The sleeve is held in engagement with the seat by packing 73, 74, 75, a compression ring 79, and a threaded gland ring 78. When the well is being completed the line 11 is run through a blowout preventer mounted on the tubing head 10, the preventer is removed, and the fitting 20 is screwed on to the line 11 and fixed to the tubing head. A flange is screwed on to a thread 100 on the fitting 20, an adapter blanking off the passage 24 is fixed to the flange, the line 12 is run through a blowout preventer mounted on the adapter, the preventer adapter and flange are removed, and the line 12 is suspended from the seat.
